Tim Yule

Managing Director, Global Investment Service

Tim joined Mason Stevens in 2015. Tim assists Practice Principals in the development of market leading managed account, administration, and investment solutions. His focus is on the creation of best in class solutions that simultaneously optimise client outcomes and improve practice efficiency and profitability. With over 20 years’ experience leading investment banking and wealth management businesses at firms such as UBS, Royal Bank of Scotland, Perpetual, and Westpac, Tim has deep experience in fixed income, investment markets and wealth management.

Nick Mitchell

Managing Director, Global Investment Service

Nick joined Mason Stevens in 2019, leading the business in its sales and marketing.
Nick brings over 2o years’ industry experience across asset management, financial advice and platform technology, including previous sales management roles at Netwealth, Pendal and BNP Paribas. His focus is on the provision of Mason Stevens solutions to the national financial advice network.

Vincent Hua

CEO & Chief Investment Officer

A co-founder of Mason Stevens, Vincent is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) overseeing over Australian $6 billion of direct global investments under management & administration, and 70 staff nationally. He is a highly experienced trader and portfolio manager with more than 25 years’ experience in global markets, banking and investment management. Vincent has held senior positions as General Manager of Trading and Products at the Global Markets & Treasury division of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Head of Asset & Liability Management and Head of the Management Science Group at Westpac, Managing Director and Head of Liquid Market Trading for Lehman Brothers (Australia) and General Manager of Markets Division for Shinsei Bank in Tokyo, Japan. Vincent is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and holds a Bachelor of Economics (Macquarie) and a Master of Economics (Macquarie).

Leanne Leong

Executive Director & Deputy CEO

Leanne is portfolio manager for the Mason Stevens Credit Fund. She has over 25 years’ experience in the Australian banking industry. She has held senior executive positions at Citigroup, HSBC and was General Manager of Structured Finance, Capital Management and Securitisation at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). In her role at CBA, Leanne was instrumental in raising efficient capital and bank funding through the securitisation of more than AU$30 billion of assets, as well as leading one of Australia’s largest originators of structured cross-border financing. Leanne has a range of diverse skills in financing, tax, accounting, law and management.

Thomas Bignill

Managing Director

Thomas co-founded Mason Stevens in February 2010. Having been involved with managed accounts since their infancy in Australia, Thomas has a strong vision for the growth and development of the managed accounts industry. Thomas and his team are committed to enhancing the investment and client service models of financial advisory practices in Australia. Prior to Mason Stevens, Thomas was Head of Equity Market Services & Direct Clients at Next Financial, and was part of the original team at Next Financial that built over A$2billion book of clients prior to its acquisition by Wilson HTM in 2009.

Patrick Eng

Head of Fixed Income

Patrick has over 26 years’ experience in the Australian banking and finance industry. Previously, he was the head of Credit Suisse Asset Finance Capital Markets Group based in Australia where his responsibilities included overseeing all origination aspects of asset backed businesses in Australia and Asia Pacific ex-Japan. He was also a member of Credit Suisse’s Investment Banking Committee in Asia Pacific. Prior to working at Credit Suisse, Patrick was head of Moody’s structured finance ratings group in Australia, where he was primarily involved in the initial establishment of Moody’s structured finance rating methodologies and approaches in Australia. Patrick has specialised credit product experiences in numerous asset classes including mortgage backed securities, asset backed securities and commercial paper program, commercial mortgage backed securities, project financing and collateralised debt obligations. Patrick has also worked for National Mortgage Market Corporation in Victoria as Funding and Business Planning Manager and began his professional career at Transport Accident Commission in Victoria as an Investment Analyst and Accountant.

Annie Zhao

Fixed Income – Director

Annie joined Mason Stevens in 2016. Annie is a credit specialist responsible for managing a range of credit portfolios. Having previously covered EM Credit and G10 Interest Rates at Citigroup Hong Kong in institutional sales, Annie has broad product experience in Asian credit as well as a thorough understanding of the APAC fixed income market. Annie holds a Masters degree in Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a background in Audit/Advisory.

Peter Liau

Head of Strategy, Performance & Analytics

Peter is responsible for strategy and performance analytics and has a strong background in actuarial studies. He has more than 20 years’ experience at leading Australian and international institutions and has held a number of key positions in the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Shinsei Bank (Japan), senior management roles at Westpac, Trowbridge Consulting and the Actuarial Department with AIA (part of the AIG Group).

Patrick Handley

Chairman

Patrick has over 40 years’ banking and finance experience both in Australia and the United States. He has held a number of directorial roles in both banking and non-banking companies such as Suncorp-Metway, AMP, HHG, Babcock & Brown, Pacific Brands and Bridgeport Energy. In Australia, Patrick was the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer at Westpac Banking Corporation from 1993 to 2001. He joined Westpac after it had posted the largest loss in Australian corporate history and helped return it to financial health during his tenure. Patrick is currently a Director of Vantage Private Equity, and former Chairman of Nomura Securities Australia. In the United States, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of Banc One Corporation (now part of JP Morgan Chase), one of the country’s largest banks.

Ron Erdos

Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer

Ron was a co-founder of Mason Stevens in 2010. Applying his broad global banking experience and deep understanding of markets and risk, one of the key aspects of his role is the oversight of all the governance and compliance aspects of the firm, ensuring that the best practices are applied for client investment strategies and the custody of these assets. Ron has more than 30 years’ experience in senior roles including Head of Global Markets for National Australia Bank, Managing Director for Bank of America (Asia) and was also formerly a Director of the SFE Clearing Corporation (prior to its merger with the Australian Stock Exchange). Ron holds a Bachelor of Commerce (UNSW) and a Masters in Applied Finance (Macquarie University).

Stephen Rickwood

Non-Executive Director

Stephen brings to the board deep experience in technology and financial services as well as business start-up knowledge. He has enjoyed a long and successful career having been one of the founders of Reckon in 1988 and later the Managing Director of the Company’s International activities. Stephen was a Board member of Reckon from 1988 to 2000. In financial services, Stephen was the Chairman of Fundhost Ltd from 2002 to 2006 playing an active role in that company’s development. Stephen was also a Director of Perennia Pty Ltd, a financial planning and advisory firm, from 2002 to 2015.

David Hewett

Managing Director
Private Investments

David joined Mason Stevens in 2011. He works with single and multi-family offices and private high net worth investors. His consultative approach enables his clients to make investment decisions based on insight, trust and intelligence. With more than 25 years’ finance experience, David has held senior executive roles within St George Private Clients, ANZ Private and ANZ Investment Bank. He holds a Masters of Business Banking and Finance and Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance from Monash University.

Chris Alcott

Managing Director
Investment Solutions

Chris co-founded Mason Stevens in 2010. He advises his clients across a range of asset classes, including direct equity investments, fixed income, currency, and overall portfolio construction. Chris has over 20 years’ finance experience with significant strength in derivatives, currency and tailored structures.
Prior to Mason Stevens, Chris held various senior positions at Next Financial, including responsibility for the firm’s distribution activities. Chris holds a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) from the University of South Australia and a Diploma of Financial Planning from Deakin University.

Julia Gao

Managing Director
Private Investments

Julia joined Mason Stevens in 2014. Julia advises high net worth individuals and families across multiple asset classes including equities, fixed income, currency, private equity and assists with their overall portfolio construction. She has over 17 years’ private wealth management experience. Prior to Mason Stevens, Julia was a Director at ING Private Bank in Singapore, then a Director at UBS Wealth Management in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Switzerland, advising wealthy families and family offices across Asia-Pacific and Europe. In Australia, she managed a portfolio of ultra-high net worth clients at NAB Private Wealth. Julia is a Director on the Board of the Italian Opera Foundation Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Diploma of Languages (French) from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM).
